Carlos Alfredo Veloz von Reckow |
These Watercolors, are of traditional old districts of Quito, Ecuador. This city is guarded by Pichincha, a volcano on whose slopes it is located. The artist, Carlos Alfredo Veloz von Reckow, is a painter of Watercolors with a trajectory of 40 years. He has had 18 national and international individual exhibitions and more than 50 collective exhibitions.
Of his watercolors it is possible to be say that they are poetic, with transparency and an extraordinary solitude. Their images not only show the landscapes they also portray the states of the soul and the silence.
Of the sense of his work, Carlos Veloz has said: “The watercolors took me to Chinese inks, these to the Sumi, the Sumi to the Zen, the Zen to the Za-Zen and this takes to me finally every day to nowhere…. I am where I must be, painting.
Comments from Jim Hull:
When I first saw his work I recognized an artist who had captured the cityscapes of Ecuador to the same degree that Frederic Church had captured the wild landscapes of that country more than a century ago. I can feel the city through his paintings and nothing more can be asked of any artist. I hope that you will enjoy them as I have and contact the artist for more information on his exciting paintings.
